MGMA of Greater St. Louis will realize this vision through

the continuous performance improvement of independent and hospital- affiliated medical practices of all specialties, sizes and healthcare delivery systems, and the professionals who manage them, though access, networking and education.

Message from our President:

As I take over as President, all I keep thinking about is change. The world is changing, healthcare is changing, people are changing. We have payroll changes, health Insurance changes, technology changes, PPACA (ObamaCare), increased government regulation and SGR, to name a few. Oh wait, sorry, SGR was postponed to increase our year end anxiety level once again.

Healthcare has changed dramatically since I joined the ranks in 1985. Throughout my career, I myself have also changed but my goals and what I have wanted to achieve not only in my career, but my life as well, have not. Granted I have not achieved everything I thought I would when I started on my path after college, but I am still a work in progress. I have learned from the people I have met along the way, those who believed in me as well as those trying to deter me from attaining my goals.

Last year the Board of MGMA of Greater St. Louis realized we needed to change our organization to better meet the needs of our members. Our members wear several hats and have to accomplish more with less in less time. What works for some of us does not work for all of us. We listened to our membership as well as non-membership; developing a new vision and mission statement as well as a new tag line “A Better You… A Best Practice”. This year we want to continue moving forward with the changes we mapped out in 2012 – updated website with latest news and events not only locally but statewide and nationally, rolling out a new e-zine, bigger presence through Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, more sponsorship opportunities for our Business Partners, changing some of our meetings to breakfast meetings, networking opportunities, promoting legislative advocacy, etc.

MGMA of Greater St. Louis wants to be your best resource to help you manage change and become the “Best You” to obtain your personal goals as well as those of your employer. So join us either in person at a monthly meeting or online and mark your calendars for our Annual Conference in March (“Managing Change”) as well as our Practice Advocacy (PAC) Conference in October.

Sharon E. Sagarra, MBA, CMPE
President, MGMA of Greater St. Louis
